OUR GUIDE TO ORGANISING A RACE NIGHT EVENT

Introduction :

Each race features 8 runners. People have to predict the number of the runner that they think will win the race. Before a race is shown, people are invited to purchase a 'tote-ticket' with their predicted runner number on it. People approach the 'tote-ticket desk' and inform the 'tote-ticket seller' of the runner number they have
chosen. The 'tote-ticket seller' will then request a payment for each runner number they choose. After payment has been made, the 'tote ticket seller' will then issue them with a printed ticket that clearly displays the runner number they have chosen and the race number. After sufficient tickets have been sold the 'tote
ticket desk' is closed. NO MORE TICKETS MAY BE SOLD FOR THAT PARTICULAR RACE. Shortly after the desk has closed, the 'tote-ticket sellers' calculate the total number of tickets they have sold for each runner number. They then write the amounts in the 'tote calculator' form and determine the prize fund percentage. ie: If 100 people purchased tickets at £1 each, then £100 has been taken from 'tote ticket sales'. If you work on a 50/50 percentage split for the prize fund and your charity/worthy cause, then £50 will be in the prize fund. Once the 'tote calculator' form has been completed, it is handed back to the compere so that he can work out how much each ticket is worth, if it wins. Once this has been done, the 'ticket values' are displayed on the giant screen for everyone to see. A member of the audience is invited to choose a race from the Race Library - no one can predict which race will be chosen. The race is then shown on the giant screen. Once the race has been shown and the winner determined, the winning 'tote-ticket' holders are then asked to collect their reward/prize from the 'toteticket' desk. The unlucky ticket holders are then told NOT throw their tickets away, but to write their name on the back of each one and place them in the 'Losers Bin'. The losers bin is a good way of keeping litter down and it also provides you with the chance to pull a ticket out of the bin, at the end of the night, and issue the winning name with a prize. Once all winning 'tote-ticket' holders have redeemed their reward/prize, then the whole process starts again !

Race Sponsorship :

Seeking individuals, companies and local businesses to SPONSOR each race is a brilliant way to generate funds before the night itself. If you charge each one about £10 then that will generate £80: obviously, if you charge more you will generate more! Another alternative is to ask for goods or services in return for sponsorship. If you manage to obtain at least 8 separate goods or services, then you could use these for either raffle prizes or winning runner sponsor prizes.

Horse Sponsorship :

Each race has eight runners. If you charge people £2 to sponsor each runner, then you will generate £16 per race. A reward, or prize is issued to the winner of the runner sponsor in the race. There are three options that you could consider for the reward/prize. (1) You could issue the winning runner sponsor with goods or services obtained from the race sponsors. (2) You could issue the winner with a percentage of that races' sponsorship money ie: 50/50 split (£8 to the winner and £8 to your funds). (3) You could issue the winner with a Winners Certificarte & bottle of cheap bubbly.  If you find that seeking runner sponsorship before the night itself is proving difficult, then why not use our NEW Runner Sponsor Cards. Simply approach people in the audience and encourage them to name a runner and sponsor it.

Jockey Sponsorship :

As well as seeking runner sponsors, you could also seek sponsors for jockeys. This method is exactly the same process as used for runner sponsors (as above). Seeking jockey sponsors will generate twice the amount of income for your funds !

IT MAY BE WORTH MENTIONING THAT SHOULD ALL RACE, HORSE AND JOCKEY SPONSORSHIP BE SOLD BEFORE THE EVENT THIS COULD WELL COVER ALL COSTS, AND THAT ALL FUNDS RAISIED ON THE NIGHT WILL BE PROFIT FOR YOUR NONIMATED GOOD CAUSE.

Running The Tote Table :

Firstly we can provide tote ticket sellers for your event but we much prefer that the organisers provide these volunteers to handle the cash etc, we will of course provide all tickets and do all the workings out for the payout etc. Each race features 8 runners. People have to predict the number of the runner that they think will win the race. Before a race is shown, people are invited to purchase a 'tote-ticket' with their predicted runner number on it. People approach the 'tote-ticket desk' and inform the 'tote-ticket seller' of the runner number they have chosen. The 'tote-ticket seller' will then request a payment for each runner number they choose. After payment has been made, the 'tote ticket seller' will then issue them with a printed ticket that clearly displays the runner number they have chosen and the race number. After sufficient tickets have been sold the 'tote ticket desk' is closed. We only payout on the winning horse, you receive nothing for second or third etc.

Duel Forcasts :

Our dual forecast cards are another excellent way to generate income before the night itself. Dual forecast cards are similar to popular 'black-out' or 'scratch type cards' used by an increasing number of sports and social clubs up and down the UK. Our cards have 28 boxes on them. Each box has a winning combination of runners that could finish FIRST and SECOND in a race. All that people have to do is choose a box, pay a nominal fee and write their name in it. When the card has been filled (all 28 boxes) then it is used on a race. The card can be used on any race. The race is run and the winning runners determined. EG: If number 7 wins with number 8 in second place, then the person whose name is in the box that says '7 & 8', wins a prize or reward..ALSO...if the race finishes with number 8 in first place and number 7 in second, then box '7 & 8' will STILL WIN !! If you reward the winner by issuing them with a percentage of the total income generated from the card
(£28 if you charge £1 a go), then it will result in £14 for the winner and £14 for your funds. We issue a maximum of eight dual forecast cards with each show; this has the potential to generate £112 for your funds. You can sell the spaces on the cards prior to the night if you wish. Don't worry if you don't fill a particular card. If the winning runner combination has not been chosen on the card, the balance will be carried forward to the next race .

1 - 2 Forcast :

The 1-2 forecast cards are exactly the same as the dual forecast ones, except there are 56 winning runner combinations on it. The winning box must have the exact winning combination in it - in other words, the FIRST and SECOND place runner numbers must be as the race finished ie: number 7 first and number 8
second. They do NOT win if number 8 comes first with number 7 second. We issue a maximum of eight 1-2 forecast cards with each show. If you use the same format as above, then 8 cards have the potential to generate £224 for your funds.

Jackpot Five :

The jackpot 5 game is a specially produced film featuring 5 dog races that are run back to back.. .all that people have to do is predict the winning runner number in each race. There are 5 boxes on a prediction slip. People simply write the number of the runner in each box ie: RACE 1 (5), RACE 2 (3), RACE 3 (1) etc, etc. There are 60 prediction slips. If you charge £1 per prediction slip (not per race), then using a 50/50 percentage split for the correct predictions or the ones with the most correct then there is the potential to generate £30 for your funds before the night itself. Another alternative is to use our NEW Jackpot 5 Lucky Dip Forecast cards. This is a card with 44 winning runner combination tickets printed on it - you simply sell them a ticket, for around £1 each. When all tickets have been sold, the race is run and the winning ticket is determined. The Lucky Dip Forecast can generate £22 for your funds (based on a 50/50 percent split).

Last Race Auction :

Another BIG income generator. We auction off each runner in either the 7th or 8th race of the night. This race can generate serious income for your funds. If the successful bidders' runner wins, they get a percentage of the total generated from the auction. The auction race can generate anything from £40 to £400.
